Taste Buds Celebrate 5 Years with New “Carnival Eats” Event

The Taste Buds are celebrating their 5th anniversary in delicious style with the launch of a brand-new food event, Carnival Eats, taking place from August 20 to 29, 2025.

For the first time, participating restaurants have no menu restrictions; they’re free to create any carnival-inspired dish they can dream up. Think: Bacon-Wrapped Pogos, Funnel Cake Nachos, Deep-Fried Mac & Cheese Balls, Cotton Candy Chicken Tenders, and other over-the-top fairground flavours.

“Five years ago, we started Taste Buds to celebrate local restaurants and give the community a reason to explore and try something new,” says The Taste Buds. “Over the years, we’ve seen incredible creativity and amazing support from our restaurants. They trust us to make these events fun, exciting, and well-received, and that’s something we’re very proud of.”

How it works:

• Each restaurant creates one exclusive carnival-themed menu item

• Items are available for 10 days only (August 20–29) at the participating Restaurant location

• You’re encouraged to try as many as you’d like and vote for your favourite

• Both a Judge’s Award and a People’s Choice Award will be crowned at the end of the event

Carrots N’ Dates, Billy K’s, Seguin Patate, Mr. Puffs, Sol De Acapulco, Jet Set Pub, Jacks Pub, Cowan’s Dairy & Weenies on Wheels.

With the Taste Buds’ track record of hosting beloved events like Taco Love, Burger Love, and Poutine Love, Carnival Eats promises to be the most colourful, creative, and indulgent yet.
